We are picked up from our hotel and start the city tour with a visit to the Soviet style Ba Dinh square where Ho Chi Minh read out the Declaration of the Nation’s Independence in 1945. We visit the museum dedicated to Ho Chi Minh before passing through his Mausoleum, escorted by the soldiers in full regalia. As we leave, we will able to walk through the gardens of the Presidential Palace before seeing “ Uncle Ho’s ’’ house, the humble dwelling he built ( based on a traditional Vietnamese stilt house ) and where he lived for the last ten years of his life. We will then continue to One Pillar pagoda and the 900- year old Temple of Literature the principle Vietnamese Confucian sanctuary and its historical center of learning.. Made up of five courtyards, this is one of the few remnants of the original city. Lunch will be at a fine local restaurant in Hanoi.
Afternoon program
We visit the Hoa Lo prison, the highest security prison of Indochina during the French colony. It was where the Vietnamese patriotic soldiers were detained by the colonialists and was later known as “Hanoi Hilton” for American pilots during American War. After wards we proceed to one of the museums in Hanoi: the Women’s Museum, Museum of Ethnology or the history Museum.
After that we will be attending a water puppet show, a typical art unique to North Vietnam with traditions dating back over a thousand years.
We finish the day with riding cyclo (rickshaw ) tour of the Old quarter of Hanoi, where each street is named after the trade ( or guild) that has carried on there for centuries such as Hang Bac ( Silver Street) and Hang Trong ( Drum street) . When is the best time to visit Hanoi?
at 11:12 am
Hanoi is located in the North of Vietnam, so it is characterized by the tropical monsoon climate. In other words, there are distinguished four seasons in a year. The hot and rainy seasons often last from May to August for the former and from February to April for the latter. However, summer (May to August) in Hanoi is quite hot, while spring (February to April) is rainy and high humidity; thus, maybe, they are not ideal months for you to have the most enjoyable Hanoi tour. Hence, the period of time from September to December is properly the best time for you to travel to Hanoi. That the climate is slightly cool and dry with autumn sunlight in Hanoi is definitely the best condition for you to immensely enjoy your full Hanoi tour.

We plan to travel to Vietnam in this Tet festival. I am wondering whether we are going to be able to find accommodation without booking in advance?
at 7:35 am
No need to book hotel in advance but other services should be reserved because you may meet some limitations when traveling in Tet Holiday! Tet is not bustling and noisy when everyone goes home and spends time with their family. Also, the number of tourists to Vietnam is less than before and after Tet festival period and many shops or restaurants are closed. Thus, the week before TET holiday is a good time to be there for the street parties and festivals.
