Getting Sapa from Hanoi

From Hanoi to Sapa – Lao Cai, you can choose from the following routes:

  • The first route is about 360km: Depart from Hanoi City, go across Thang Long bridge. Then go straight along Noi Bai – Lao Cai route, go though Vinh Phuc, Viet Tri, Phong Chau, Doan Hung. Head to Lao Cai city, and then turn onto Highway 4D to Sapa.

  • The second route is around 370km: Depart from Hanoi city, go through Lang – Hoa Lac route. Go straight along Thang Long Highway. Then turn right on Highway 21 to Son Tay. Continue with Trung Ha Bridge- Phong Chau Bridge route. Go to Doan Hung, drive along the road 70 to Lao Cai then turn into Highway 4D to Sapa.

Tips: If you are backpackers and yearn for admiring majestic mountains, you can choose the 3rd route to go to Sa Pa through Lai Chau with a length of 420 km. You also depart from the inner city of Hanoi through Lang – Hoa Lac. Go along Thang Long Highway. Then turn right on Highway 21 to Son Tay. Then you go to Thanh Son along Highway 32 and then make your way to Sapa. Going this way, you will be able to conquer 30 km of Khau Pha Pass, 50km of O Quy Ho Pass. In addition you can also enjoy the beauty of Mu Cang Chai and Hoang Lien Son National Forest.
