More different than other art programs, “Ionah” show is a synthetic entertainment art program with a combination of many different art forms such as dance, drama, new circus, hip hop, visual arts, music, special effects, light and other modern technologies to create unique and novel performances in the space of theater
The main character of the show is a young girl named Ionah. Tottering between jealousy and anger of love, the young girl Ionah accidentally falls into a surreal world. She wanders in illusion, meets strange characters and fight, wrestle with endless emotions to escape and to return to her love. Twelve scenes with images, sound effects, and the dramatic light will take audiences experience the ups and downs of the characters.
Despite modern and grandiose, “Ionah” still brings quiet and thoughtful minutes to audiences with the close as well as familiar emotions. Even the name “Ionah” seems very Western, but it turned out to be the reverse of the word “Hanoi”. Then, the image of the train rolling, the activities of people working at the foot of Long Bien bridge or countryside wharf with peaceful melodies. All gave viewers a Vietnam breath in the air with modern identities.
One of the special features of “Ionah” is the convergence of the creative crew including leading faces of Vietnamese showbiz as director Pham Hoang Nam, musician Quoc Trung, Tran Ly Ly choreographer, designer Cong Tri, meritorious circus artist Song Toan Thang. There is also the participation of an expert of 3D films from Italy, director Fernando Toma.
Clothes and context in “Ionah” carry abstract and modern features. The designer has designed costumes to be beautiful and convenient for the movement of circus performers but still durable and retained color. Music also is the attraction of Ionah show. Circus performers often perform improvidently under freedom without depending on the music. Therefore, the music brings modern breath, removes all limits of space and time, but still is in line with the speed of the circus.
Although the program takes place in the space theater – a familiar place for the kind of academic and complex art, but for Ionah show, the audience will feel closer and awake many emotions. First, viewers will go through exciting emotions when encountering elements of Hanoi hidden subtly throughout the show. The familiar street corner, Long Bien Bridge, street vendors, everyday scenes become especially shining in the limelight in combination with excited, snatch and tear emotions in the story.
