Luon Cave in Halong Bay

Halong Bay – World Natural Heritage is the vast area with countless islands in all shapes and sizes; the small fishing villages nestled on the limestone. Halong not only has that, Halong is beautiful, peaceful and contains a lot of mystery, magic things inherent in the landscape and human. About 14km from Bai Chay marina to south of is Luon Cave (located on Bo Hon Island). The front of the grotto is the Turtle Grotto, the right is the Gate of Heaven. It is the steep escarpment with blue water during four seasons which is flat as a mirror. The foot of the island is an arch gate.

The reason for the name of Luon Cave is because this is a closed circular arc mountain, the middle of the cave is a calm blue lake that connects to the sea by a tunnel created by cave which has bottom flooded. Luon Cave is nearly 60m long, the roof of the cave is 2.5mto 4m high roof depending on the tide. The cave’s vault has many beautiful and fantastic stalactites. On the day of the rising water, as passing through the cave, many guests must stoop to pass creating a new feel.

Going through the cave, visitors will come up with a pool of brackish water in the cave surrounded by mountains, approximately 1 km2 in height. Four sides are covered by luxuriant vegetation, crags which sometimes have Monkeys running on along with old trees, grass, bushes, and the fragrant orchid blooms. Under the calm and blue water, there is a vibrant life of marine species such as shrimp, fish, crab, squid … On the cliffs, there also saves the fossils of the freshwater snail, shell showing that this place had people and this place at that time must be a deep valley.

Since the height of the cave is limited in the range of 2.5 – 4m, if visitors want to visit Luon Cave, then you must switch to the smaller boats, each carrying about 10 units to 15 people. This type of caves in Halong Bay has not many, the thing that attracts tourists here is the natural scene. It is a harmonious combination of mountain shape, the color of clouds, sky, and water to each plant. It seems that it is impossible to find here a defect of the Creator.
