Y Linh Ho is situated in San Sa Ho commune, Sapa district, Lao Cai province. According to the elders, from ancient times, this was the village of the Dao discovered by a man named “Ly Linh Ho”. Gradually, the Dao moved to another place, then Hmong settled, and still kept the name and transliterated into Y Linh Ho so as to be grateful to the ancients. Located far away from the main road, the road into the village is steep and twisty, therefore, it is different from other villages in Sapa. This place is not noisy by traffic, but peaceful and quiet.

Located about 7km to the southwest of Sapa town, besides Muong Hoa stream, Y Linh Ho is a commune comprised of small hamlets scattered on very harsh mountainous terrain with high and steep mountain ranges. Only a few hundreds of Black H’mong ethnic people live in this commune. They built houses by using soil or bamboo and they grew maize and upland rice on steep hillsides.  The only way to come to the commune is walking from the main road. This is also where visitors will begin their journey to discover the mysterious beauty of Muong Hoa valley and learn about the lives of the villagers near Sapa.
