The densely populated village of Ha Mo, Dan Phuong district, Hanoi is proud of its elegant lace products. The village nestled approximately 15 kilometers from the capital of Hanoi draws many influxes of tourists who wish to marvel at intricate lace products or get a first-hand experience of embroidery making process.
During French colonial era in Vietnam, besides some traditional crafts in the village, locals also developed embroidery. Ha Mo embroidery was flourishes in 80s, 90s of 20th century. Lace products were exported to international market including Hong Kong, Japan and Korea. In the period from 1919-1920, Ha Mo became the training center workers, teachers handing embroidery, not only for the communes in the district, in the city but also expanded the scope of the other provinces in the country.

To create a complete embroidery product, village’s artists have carried out many complicated and meticulous stages such as drawing sample, selecting the color just before being put on embroidery. Lace pattern is engraved on a thin wooden plate with many sizes and different designs, then print it on paper.
